Advanced Topics

In a nutshell: Comparing and ordering helps us see which numbers are bigger or smaller.

## Bigger, Smaller, or the Same? Comparing numbers means looking at two or more numbers to see which is bigger, smaller, or if they are the same. ## Using Symbols We use special symbols: - Greater than (\( > \)) - Less than (\( < \)) - Equal to (\( = \)) ## Ordering Numbers Put numbers in order from smallest to biggest or biggest to smallest. This is called "ordering." ## Real-World Connections Comparing numbers helps you know who has more toys, or how many steps are needed to win a game.

Examples

  • 5 is greater than 3 (5 > 3).
  • Putting numbers 2, 8, 6 in order: 2, 6, 8.
