Who needs to buy cards when you can make them? In this fun class, learners will gain the skills they need to make pop-up cards of their own! Led by Teacher Stephanie–an art teacher with the Metropolitan Museum of Art–they'll learn different pop-up techniques, like the basic box and the basic beak, and experiment with combining them to create different kinds of pop-up cards, from simple to more complex. They're encouraged to get as creative as they want! By the end of class, students will have made several pop-up cards they can give as gifts or keep for themselves.
Materials needed: Construction paper or cardstock (students will use multiple sheets as they practice and create), scissors, glue stick or tape, markers or colored pencils for decorating. Please note, pop-ups "pop" more easily when using thicker paper. It can be more challenging to make pop-ups with very thin paper like notebook paper or printer paper.
