Algebra 2 is full of concepts that will show up again — on standardized tests, in Pre-Calculus, in Calculus, and beyond. This course is built for students who are already taking Algebra 2 in school and want to do more than pass: they want to truly own the material. Each session targets the foundational skills that teachers have to rush past on the way to the next unit — quadratic functions, rational expressions, systems of equations, function operations, and more — and builds the kind of deep, flexible understanding that holds up under pressure. This isn't about keeping pace with your class. It's about pulling ahead of it.

Built for Students Who Want to Actually Master Algebra 2 — Not Just Pass It

Algebra 2 moves fast. Teachers are working against curriculum calendars, and by the time a unit wraps up, there's already a new one waiting. Smart, busy students learn to do what it takes to get the grade — and then move on. That's a rational strategy, but it has a cost: the concepts that feel familiar enough to pass a test often aren't yet solid enough to build on. This course exists to close that gap. It's a year-round supplemental class for students who are already taking Algebra 2 in school and want the kind of deep, durable understanding that pays off in future math courses, on the SAT and ACT, and in every STEM class that builds on algebra.

Core Topics, Covered with Real Depth

The curriculum spans the high-leverage concepts at the heart of Algebra 2 — the ones that future courses will assume you know cold. Students work through quadratic functions from multiple angles: identifying key features like vertex, axis of symmetry, and intercepts; analyzing increasing and decreasing intervals; and connecting the algebraic form of a quadratic to its parabolic graph. From there, students build mastery of rational functions — defining them as polynomial over polynomial expressions, simplifying through factoring, and performing operations including multiplication and division. Special attention goes to asymptotes and holes in graphs, which trip up even strong students who've only seen them once.

Systems, Sequences, and Function Operations

Beyond quadratics and rationals, the course covers the broader function toolkit that Algebra 2 demands. Students work with systems of linear and quadratic equations — solving them graphically and algebraically, and interpreting what different solution types mean. Arithmetic sequences get connected to their underlying linear structure, so students see the pattern, not just the formula. Function operations — adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and composing functions — are practiced until they become automatic. Average rate of change is developed as a concept with real meaning, laying the groundwork for the calculus ideas that follow.

This is a live, ongoing class that runs across multiple cohort groups throughout the year. Each session is active and example-driven — students work through problems, analyze graphs, and build procedural fluency alongside conceptual understanding.
