Amalia Fernand is an environmental educator and world explorer who makes classes come alive with stories from her real-life adventures, props from her science shelf, and live program animals. The founder of Nature Explorers International, she has developed dozens of nature camps and classroom programs to inspire students to explore the world around them, appreciate wildlife, and become stewards of the environment. During classes, she is regularly joined by her friends Scaly the corn snake, Slimy the tiger salamander, and Lizzie the leopard gecko.
Earth Rocks! is an earth science enrichment course that takes students on a tour of our planet's most dramatic and beautiful features — from tectonic plates and volcanoes to gemstones, fossils, and the geological wonders of the natural world. Each session spotlights a different theme, giving students the freedom to drop in for a single class or build a deep understanding of how our planet is constantly changing beneath their feet. Whether you're fascinated by earthquakes, obsessed with crystals, or just want to know how the Grand Canyon got so grand, this class has something for every kind of earth explorer. After all, geology is everywhere — you just have to know where to look.
