I am pursuing a BS in biochemistry and a BA in music at Seattle Pacific University (graduating on 06/2021). Prior to this, I graduated from The Bear Creek School in Redmond, Washington. This last summer, I taught K-6 campers at Destination Science, a camp focused on developing children's aptitude for science, which was my first long-term exposure to teaching younger generations. Currently, I am a piano instructor for Lessons In Your Home and am focused on educating a younger demographic (elementary school through high school). At SPU, I am a TA for organic chemistry and am involved in helping many of my colleagues with chemistry-related homework or studying techniques. While I have taken many science courses here at SPU, I've found chemistry to be my strongest subject because I am fascinated by the seemingly endless discoveries and applications of this field. Many of my peers do not share this same passion for chemistry, yet I am very motivated to not only educate myself but also others so that they may start to see the beauty and synergistic complexity of chemistry. I can say the same things regarding music--there are so many possibilities and trajectories for students to take when learning music, and I work my best to help them find the right path to be on. I believe when working with students that they should not be directly given the answer or route to a solution, but rather be encouraged to approach the problem from different angles until they find one that works well for them. It brings me great joy whenever one of my students or peers uses a suggestion I give them to develop their own practice or study routine which is unique to them, and which ultimately will lead to them becoming more efficient and dedicated learners. Outside of academia, I enjoy being outdoors and playing sports with my friends, as well as teaching myself new instruments such as the guitar (which is currently in progress!).
