I am a graduate student studying optometry at Arizona College of Optometry in Glendale, Arizona. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in biophysics.
I have over 10 years of tutoring experience. I began tutoring Algebra in high school as a sophomore to struggling freshmen. I quickly learned that I enjoy helping people utilize the skills that they know, but just need extra guidance and practice using. That carried through to the present day, where I tutor a graduate level geometric and physical optics (physics) class for my program.
I love tutoring test prep because tests such as the SAT and ACT are stepping stones for students to go on to do bigger and better things. My specialties within the tests are math and science, as I have an extensive background in both subjects. When I tutor these subjects, I don't just explain concepts, but strive for the students to understand why and how the concepts work. My father is a mechanical engineer and growing up he would often help me with math and this was his approach. It worked for me and it has worked for those I have tutored.
Outside of academia, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two sons, and dog. I enjoy camping, working out, and playing basketball and volleyball. I coordinate pickup basketball games every Saturday morning. I am also an active member of my church and enjoy attending.
I look forward to working with you in the future!
