About Me

I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Master's of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction as well as an additional 18 credit hours in English Literature. My Bachelor's in Journalism is from Brigham Young University. I enjoy tutoring composition, literature, and ACT/SAT prep focusing on the critical reading and writing portions of the exams, including grammar and addressing the logic and argument development required for the "new" essay. I have taught in schools where the students live in poverty and tutored students who attended prestigious private schools such as Georgetown Prep and Sidwell Friends. I also have experience helping ESL students though I do not hold ESL certification. I believe it is not possible for a person to reach his or her potential without not only an education but also without having the skills and curiosity needed to become a life-long learner. I love helping students gain understanding and confidence. I am a life-long learner myself, currently learning French, drawing, and mixed media. My hobbies include reading about a wide range of topics, journaling, creative writing, book arts, genealogy and family history work, and laughter yoga.
