About Me

My passion for educating began with my teachers at Elmwood High School. The teachers there always went above and beyond to insure the best quality of education that they could provide everyday during the entirety of my High School career. Their commitment to student excellence inspired me to a career of educating others, and providing students with the same knowledge and enthusiasm that was such an inspiration to me during my teenage years. I graduated from Bradley University which is located in Peoria Illinois, December of 2014. There I received my Bachelors of Science in Degree in History. I often took education courses as electives for fun, it was there that I began to fully appreciate what it means to be an educator. I plan on eventually going back to school and getting a Masters Degree in either education or administration so that I can fully make a career of working with students and helping them succeed. I have over a year of experience educating and working with students. I observed one middle school classroom and one High School classroom during my sophomore/junior year at Bradley. During my senior year at Bradley, I was given the opportunity to intern at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. There I performed live planetarium shows, educating museum guest about the stars, constellations, and planets in our solar system. During my time at the internship, the museum was displaying an entire Ripley's Believe It or Not exhibit. During my breaks between planetarium shows, I would perform science activities for children that corresponded with the Ripley's Believe It or Not exhibit. After graduation, I began working with a grant program Illinois State University. The grant program was called Smart Grid for Schools. In this grant program, my supervisor and I would drive to schools all across Illinois educating students and teachers about Smart Grid technology, electricity consumption, and electrical grid systems. My main subjects for tutoring are all aspects of History. This includes World, European, American, Ancient, Modern, Political, etc, as well as social studies and geography. I also help with all subject matter that deal with essay writing, including things as subject, structure, and overall presentation. When it comes to educating, I believe that an education is taught, not learned. It is easy for an educator to simply teach information to students, but if the students cannot retain this information, they are not learning anything. That is why it is an educators responsibility to teach students information, but in a way so that they are learning the information, but also learning the information for themselvesIf you have not already guessed, my favorite subject is History. History has always appealed to me because it is tangible. It is not just a bunch of numbers, but more so real people and events that happened and have shaped our world to what it is today. It is always so fascinating to see the chain of historical events and how they are all so significant when accumulating to present. History and education is a lot of enjoyment for me, but I also enjoy many other things. In my free time, I enjoy reading. what I read varies but mostly I enjoy historical literature. Also, I enjoy astronomy very much. One of my favorite things to do is to take my telescope out to the country at night and look at all the constellations in the night sky. It is especially cool when planets are visible and to actually be able to see some significant planetary features from here on earth.
