About Me

I am a graduate of Virginia Tech University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Since graduation in 2001, I have worked in the education industry. I truly enjoy working with students of all ages. My passion is teaching English, Literature, Grammar, and Writing. I have experience working with students as young as the 3rd grade teaching summer school and intervention classes. I have also taught at the high school and Community College Level. The majority of my teaching experience has been with Middle School students in a classroom setting, along with after school tutoring and intervention classes. I feel very comfortable working with different age levels because I am extremely well prepared and able to differentiate learning styles. In addition, I truly enjoy watching students learn and achieve to their potential. I am an excellent tutor because I listen to the student's specific needs and establish a plan that helps the student fill in their personal skill gaps. I truly believe that every child has the ability to shine in all subjects. I think that tutoring help is a great way to supplement different learning styles so that students can build confidence and attain their goals. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, exercise, spending time outdoors with my dogs and being with my family.
