About Me

I am a Truman State University graduate with a Biology degree (Bachelor of Science). Beginning in high school, I started tutoring students in mathematics. I continued to informally tutor fellow students in college because I learned better in the process while teaching other people. I feel a great sense of accomplishment whenever I pass on valuable knowledge to another person! I can teach people how to improve their performance on the ACT, SAT, and GMAT standardized tests. In addition, I can teach algebra, geometry, and Chinese at all levels. My favorite subject to teach is the GMAT exam because the level of required logical deduction really challenges thinking to new heights. Data sufficiency in the quantitative section provides a unique twist in solving math, and I always feel happy whenever I help someone understand an easier way to solve questions. My teaching philosophy is that there is no student who cannot improve: every individual has a preferred method for arriving at an answer, and it's up to the tutor to guide them towards optimal performance. Although I graduated with a science degree, I study philosophy and history for fun. I enjoy playing board games and piecing puzzles together. Nothing makes me more proud than to nurture students into mature, intelligent individuals; in the process, I mature along with them, and they ironically become my teacher as well.
