Practice Test 10

A 78-year-old female on beta-blockers fell and has a contusion over her right upper abdominal quadrant. Her BP is 110/80 mmHg, HR is 70, and RR is 20. She denies significant pain but appears anxious and has pale, cool skin.

A 22-year-old male was stabbed in the left lateral chest. You have applied a three-sided occlusive dressing. During transport, the patient becomes increasingly anxious, hypotensive, and tachycardic. You note absent breath sounds on the left, jugular vein distention, and tracheal deviation to the right. The patient's oxygen saturation is now 84% on a non-rebreather mask.
