Why Do We Compare Numbers?
People have been comparing things for a very, very long time! Long ago, farmers needed to know who had more sheep. Shopkeepers needed to know who had more coins. Comparing numbers helps us answer the question: "Which is more, which is less, or are they the same?"
Today, you get to learn the same skill that helped people long ago. You will look at two written numerals โ like 3 and 7 โ and figure out which one is greater, which one is less, or if they are equal.
