The Story of Writing
A long, long time ago, people did not have computers. They wrote everything by hand! They used quill pens dipped in ink, and they wrote on paper or even animal skins. If someone made a mistake, they had to start all over again. That was really hard!
Over many years, people found new ways to write. Let's look at how writing tools changed over time.

How Digital Writing Works
When you write on a computer or tablet, you follow special steps. Let's learn about each one!
Step 1: A Grown-Up Helps You Start
Your teacher might show you how to turn on the computer. They help you log in, which means typing your name and a secret password. They show you where to click to open the writing tool.
Step 2: Pick Your Digital Tool
There are many tools you can use. Some let you type words. Some let you draw pictures. Some even let you talk and the computer writes your words for you! Your teacher will tell you which tool to use for each project.
Step 3: Write Your Words
Now comes the fun part! You type your story on the keyboard. If you make a mistake, you can press the backspace key to erase it. That is much easier than erasing pencil marks!
Step 4: Make It Look Nice
You can make your words bold or italic. You can change the color of your words. You can add pictures next to your writing. This makes your work look beautiful!
Step 5: Publish and Share
When you are done, you publish your writing. This means you save it and share it. Your teacher might print it out. Or they might put it on a class website so your family can read it at home!
