Summer Learning: Bridging the Gap to 6th Grade Math equips students with essential math skills using hands-on practice. By the end of this course, students will confidently solve mathematical problems, apply learned concepts to real-world scenarios, and develop a strong foundation for more advanced math topics.

Fraction Operations

  • Subtract fractions and mixed numbers — including regrouping and borrowing techniques
  • Identify and calculate the least common denominator — a crucial step for adding and subtracting fractions
  • Convert fractions to equivalent forms — ensuring accurate calculations

Measurement Systems

  • Explore customary units of measurement — including inches, feet, yards, and miles
  • Learn metric system units — focusing on millimeters, centimeters, and meters
  • Convert between different units within both systems — applying practical problem-solving skills

Real-World Applications of Measurement

  • Measure distances — using miles for longer trips and inches for smaller objects
  • Determine the weight or mass of objects — understanding pounds and other relevant units
