Building Blocks of 3rd Grade Math provides a foundational understanding of key mathematical concepts, empowering students to confidently tackle arithmetic problems and build a strong base for future math studies. Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, students will develop essential skills in place value, addition, subtraction, and problem-solving. By the end of this course, students will demonstrate proficiency in core arithmetic operations and number sense.

Understanding Place Value

  • Identifying place values — ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands.
  • Composing and decomposing numbers — understanding how numbers are built.
  • Using place value to compare and order numbers — greater than, less than, and equal to.

Addition Strategies

  • Mastering addition facts — quick recall of basic addition equations.
  • Adding multi-digit numbers — aligning numbers correctly.
  • Using regrouping (carrying) — understanding when and how to regroup.

Subtraction Techniques

  • Mastering subtraction facts — quick recall of basic subtraction equations.
