Amalia Fernand is an environmental educator and world explorer who makes classes come alive with stories from her real-life adventures, props from her science shelf, and live program animals. The founder of Nature Explorers International, she has developed dozens of nature camps and classroom programs to inspire students to explore the world around them, appreciate wildlife, and become stewards of the environment. During classes, she is regularly joined by her friends Scaly the corn snake, Slimy the tiger salamander, and Lizzie the leopard gecko.

ABOUT THIS CLASS

What did a T. rex really look like, and how do we know? In Junior Paleontologists Club, young fossil hunters examine real fossils up close on screen with a live instructor who has dug up dinosaur bones in Madagascar, then play guessing games and fossil investigations about dinosaurs, megalodon, ancient crocodiles and ice age mammals, with dinosaur yoga and freeze dance breaks in between. By the end, your child will be able to explain what a fossil can tell us about a creature that lived long ago. For kids who can name more dinosaurs than you can.

SYLLABUS

Real Fossils on Screen Students travel back millions of years as they look closely at real fossils shown right on their screens and learn what those fossils tell us about Earth's history.

Dinosaurs Like T. rex Young fossil hunters dig into the dinosaurs that once ruled our planet, from the towering Tyrannosaurus rex on down, with fun facts and guessing games along the way.

Ocean Predators and Ancient Crocodiles Students explore prehistoric sea predators like the giant megalodon, plus ancient crocodile relatives, and investigate fossils for clues about how these creatures lived.

Ice Age Mammals Students meet the magnificent mammals of the ice age. Between activities, everyone takes a break to stretch and move with games like dinosaur yoga and freeze dance!
