Greet people formally and informally using *bonjour*, *bonsoir*, *salut*, and *coucou* — and know when each one is appropriate
Introduce yourself and ask others their names using *Je m'appelle...*, *Comment tu t'appelles?*, and the formal *Comment vous appelez-vous?*
Navigate the *tu* vs. *vous* distinction and understand why it matters in French-speaking culture
Conjugate essential verbs — *être*, *avoir*, *aller*, *faire*, *vouloir* — and use them in simple present-tense sentences
Describe people and places using adjectives like *grand(e)*, *petit(e)*, and *intelligent(e)*, with correct gender and number agreement
Ask for directions with *Où est...?* and use location vocabulary to navigate a French-speaking city
Express what you like and dislike using *J'aime* and *Je n'aime pas*, and talk about hobbies and preferences
Tackle French pronunciation challenges — including silent letters, nasal sounds, and liaisons — so your spoken French sounds natural

Ready to say more than just bonjour? This course is the perfect starting point for 5th–8th graders who are brand new to French and want to actually use the language — not just memorize it. Students will learn to greet people correctly (and know when to use salut versus bonjour), introduce themselves, ask for directions, describe their world, and even order food at a café. Along the way, they'll pick up essential grammar foundations like verb conjugation, noun gender, and adjective agreement — all taught through games, role-play, and real conversation practice. Whether your student is heading into a French class next year or just curious about the language, this course builds real skills and real confidence from day one.
