Michael
I am especially interested in the process of helping others as they learn how to express their views and opinions through the written word. I believe writing is a useful skill in just about any walk of life, and I consider it my privilege and purpose to help others discover their written voice.

I'm on your wavelength. In college I was a classroom volunteer tutor for the Preuss Charter School in San Diego, and I've been working for nearly two years now as a professional tutor, and have thorough experience with a range of subjects and standardized test formats. I also write pop culture articles on the side, and aspire to be a college professor of literature; consequently, I most enjoy teaching English and composition, and pride myself on being able to break down essay-writing to its most...

I'm a writer and filmmaker by trade. I've been teaching and writing for over twenty years, have a variety of academic and non-academic interests including films, books, sports, music, travel, languages, art, theatre and many more. To be honest, I'm pretty much interested in everything in one way or another, whether it be academic or pop culture related. I speak three languages, have traveled extensively and come from a very academically oriented family.

Friday through Sunday I would generally be free to tutor at any time; on Mondays, I am available during the day, and on Wednesdays, I am available from mid-afternoon (starting around three) through the evening. I am usually not available on Tuesdays or Thursdays. I would not need to take any month off.

I am comfortable tutoring in, ranging from English and essay editing to Algebra and middle school math. But I am most passionate (and get most geeked out about) teaching science, especially topics in Biology and Life Science, because I love learning about how our living world works! My teaching philosophy revolves around students harnessing their strengths to become independent learners, and my job is to facilitate making those connections. Outside of education, I love spending time outdoors and...
