About Me

I am a three-time winner each of the Overseas Press Club and White House Correspondents' Association awards for my work as a war correspondent, with reporting from all seven continents. My poetry has appeared in several publications, including the book "Put Into Words My Love," and was selected for Color: Story 2020. I write most of my poetry while parallel parking or walking my dogs, Topsie and Batman. I have taught writing, journalism, media studies, political studies, foreign policy and practical knowledge at Washington and Jefferson College and American University.
