Study Strategies

## Smart Choices When Unsure\n\nNot sure of an answer? Use the process of elimination! Cross out answers that don't make sense. Even if you can't find the right answer immediately, removing wrong options increases your chances if you need to guess.\n\n### When to Guess\n\nOn the SSAT, there’s a small penalty for wrong answers, so only guess if you can eliminate at least one or two choices. If you're really stuck, it's sometimes better to leave it blank.\n\n### Practicing Elimination\n\n- Look for obviously incorrect answers first.\n- Use logic and estimation to narrow down choices.

Examples

  • Crossing out two options before making an educated guess.
  • Using estimation to see which answer is too big or too small for the question.
