With a background in Special Education and tutoring for test prep (GED, ACT, SAT), I have a heart for those who find it difficult to succeed in the classroom. As a scientist and a former university professor, my goal here at Varsity Tutors is to help you build the bridge that could connect what you already know and what you pursue in learning.After finishing my college study (EE) from the top university in China, I came to the US for graduate study in physics, when I started teaching as a TA in several EE courses such as semiconductor physics and computer architecture. I got the PhD degree in 2013, and then move to another university to continue scientific research, and later became a research professor, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in physics.My expertise of tutoring focuses on physics (high school and college level), maths (high school and college general), electrical engineering, and computer programing (most proficient in MATLAB).

My passions are writing and logical argumentation. I've seen success in both fields. For the former, I've had a letter to the editor published in the New York Times, successfully finished a 40-page thesis as part of my undergraduate education, and currently write for Ordinary Times, a group blog whose alumni have gone on to write full-time for Forbes, the Atlantic, and other prestigious publications. For the latter, I scored in the 98th percentile of the LSAT and achieved admission to a a top-25 law school with a generous scholarship.It's tremendously fulfilling to see students grow as writers and as thinkers as they progress through a curriculum, something I am very fortunate to witness. I am a sophomore at Cornell University. Hoping to pursue a career in government or law, I am studying to receive my Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, but I am most passionate about English, History, and Math. I specialize in SAT tutoring and am currently assisting many students prepare for the August SAT. I have also helped students with college application essays.

I am a graduate of Texas A and M International University and Texas State University. I received my bachelors in Political Science with a minor in History from Texas State and a masters in Curriculum and Instruction from TAMIU. Since graduation, I have dedicated my time to being an elementary teacher and paraprofessional. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Science and Social Studies. I am a firm believer in the importance of education and know I have the skillset to help others improve their own education. I got my high school education in Tampa, FL and have nearly completed my bachelor's degree and thesis in Music from New College of Florida. I have worked with students on a one-on-one basis before as a TA at my college, and enjoy tutoring students in most music-related subejcts as well as working with English, reading, and writing skills. My favorite subjects to tutor are music theory and creation-centric skills, as I have the most experience and knowledge in these areas. When tutoring, I like to assess my clients' abilities and provide them with an individually-tailored plan for learning which takes into account the pupils' academic strengths and weaknesses in order to provide the best service that I can without depending on a "cookie-cutter" model of instruction. Totally unrelated to cancer research is my other area of expertise is Li ion battery research. This research is trained to increasing the power density of a battery by carefully selecting cathode materials.

My STAAR scores in reading, math, and science have all been above 90% each year.I have my ESL certification along with gifted and talented training. I am currently taking master level courses for a degree in Educational Administration.

I graduated from Duke University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology and minor in Chemistry. When I graduated, I decided to take some time off before medical school, so I completed my Master's in the Science of Health Care Delivery at Arizona State University. Right now, I am in the midst of the medical school admissions process, but hopefully, it will conclude soon. I have a comprehensive understanding of subjects ranging from the social sciences to math. As a tutor, I want to instill confidence into my students. I want them to not only material itself, but I also want my students to find the best learning methods to be successful in their academic work and beyond.
