About Me

I am a junior undergraduate at Seattle Pacific University. I am studying Political Science with concentrations in both Public Policy & Law and International Affairs. I expect to receive my Bachelor of Arts degree in June 2016. In 2011, I was selected by local community leaders to be a mentor and tutor through the Brilliant Outstanding Women (BOWs) Organization. As a BOW, I was able to mentor and tutor students at local elementary schools in the Portland Metro Area from 2011-2012. From 2008-2012, I was afforded the opportunity to be an Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) student. Through AVID, I was able to tutor my fellow peers and work with them in small groups. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about Math, Reading, Writing, Study Skills and Organization. I have a passion for these subjects because working with students in these areas has always yielded successful results; exceeded expectations and an improved comprehension and work ethic. I tailor my tutoring style according to each student's needs. I make sure they feel comfortable and encouraged. In high school, I struggled with tests and focusing long enough to complete lengthy readings, but I found what works for me. Now, I find great joy in helping others be able to do the same. I strive to not only assist in the education of my students but also in the empowerment. When I am not in the classroom or library, I am at the gym, in the kitchen, or spending time with my loved ones.
