About This Class
Students who have experienced success through middle school and early high school prerequisite classes often experience their first true academic challenges as their college prep curriculum begins demanding college-level work. And that is precisely when some of the habits that have served them well (cramming for tests, loading up on extra credit and participation points, finishing in-class assignments early and using that time to do homework) stop working in their favor. Conquering 10th Grade is a course led by college admissions expert Joanna Graham, designed specifically for high school sophomores to build the executive function and study skills that ambitious high school trajectories actually require: genuine time management, strategic planning across multiple demanding commitments, self-directed work habits, and the mental frameworks to stay on top of an honors and AP schedule while building the kind of extracurricular depth that matters in college admissions. These aren't skills most 14- and 15-year-olds develop on their own — and the students who have them for their upper-level, honors, and AP classes are the ones who don't just survive, but also thrive.
