I am currently entering my 4th year teaching middle and high school English at a private Chicago school well-reputed for its 100% college acceptance rate. Our model is unique because our 9th graders come to us from a wide range of academic skills and successes, and it is our job to provide the instruction, support, and encouragement to prepare each student for the country's top colleges and universities. As such, after-school tutoring is a large part of the job and I've really come to appreciate the unique benefits that come from one-on-one instruction and intervention.

As your tutor, I will work with you to set goals, to identify areas of need, and to push you forward as an independent and inspired learner. With my undergraduate in English/American Literature from New York University and my masters of education from St. Joseph's University, I am both passionate about and experienced in the study of writing and literature. It would be my mission as your tutor to provide tools and strategies that demystify the reading and writing process without taking away the magic that makes the study of language such a joy.

When my husband and I moved from New York City to Chicago four years ago, I had no idea how quickly I would fall in love with my new city. My favorite part of Chicago continues to be the lakefront, and I'm thankful for summer mornings off spent biking or running along the lake path. I also love using my summers to catch up on reading, and am always thrilled to discover a new story or article that I can bring into the classroom to share with my students. When not tutoring or teaching, I am most often at my favorite weightlifting class, cooking a new vegetarian recipe, at a music festival with my husband, or reading a magazine on the couch with my cats.
