What is your teaching philosophy?
Patience, and keeping students motivated with innovative lesson plans.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I will briefly introduce myself and let the student do it as well. I will ask questions to know what the goals the student wants to achieve from this teaching are. After that, we will start with the lesson of the day.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I will try to get the student engaged with the class, creating fun and easy to learn lesson plans.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I will try to find out what the best way he/she learns is. After that I will create lessons plans based on that.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I will give the student small paragraphs to read, and after that I will ask the student to write down what he/she understands of each one of the paragraphs. Also I will make him/her highlight the main ideas and the key words.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I found that the best strategy is to get to know the student so I can understand his/her needs for the class. I believe each student learns in a different way, and our mission is to find out what way will fit the best for him/her.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I will bring entertaining lessons plans so the student does not feel bored, and instead he/she will wait for the next tutoring session with enthusiasm.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
The techniques would be to make the lessons plans easy to understand. Also to ask the student many times if he/she understands the material, and to give a review at the end of the class to ensure the student understood the lecture of the day.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I believe cheering up the student even to the minimal achievement he/she made in class.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Trying to get to know what the goals he/she is trying to get out of this class are.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I will have to know what kind of learner the student is so I can adapt my tutoring to him/her.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
It depends on the student, but in general I will try to bring games, readings, etc.
