MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
As I was growing up, I always enjoyed assisting my peers with their schoolwork. I never thought much of it; I was just trying to help. Little did I know that this would translate into something much greater when I became a tutor. Never did I think a job would allow me to make such a big impact on students.
Tutoring has become an important part especially since I have been studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California. What I enjoy most about tutoring is that I get the chance to explore multiple teaching methods in order to find a method that works for each individual student. I have come to realize that everybody learns in different ways and at a different pace, and it is my job to accommodate each student’s needs. I establish a connection with each student to ensure he or she feels comfortable to express his or her questions and concerns.
I enjoy working with students of all ages, which is why my subject areas include middle school math all the way through Calculus II, in addition to the SAT (with writing) and college essay writing. Math has always been my strongest subject, and I believe every student has the potential to grasp whatever concepts are introduced to him. I also specialize in essay writing and editing (and grammar in general), which I accredit to my four years as a member of my high school debate team. Additionally, I can provide help with Spanish, as I studied the language for 12 years. I have an endless amount of patience with students in any subject area; I simply want each student to have the chance to succeed.
During my free time, I like to go to the gym or practice yoga. I spend a lot of time playing with my pets, a Boston terrier and a rescue cat. While I enjoy staying active, I also enjoy getting lost in a good book. I love to learn new things and create new ideas, and I believe that reading is the best way to accomplish that. Hopefully I seem like a good match for your child; I can’t wait to hear from you!
