I earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Maryland in May 2023. I would like to use my degree in a field that involves education, children, and studying child cognition. I have over 3 years of tutoring experience, and math has always been a passion of mine. Thus, I prefer to tutor children in math, but I am qualified to tutor in subjects such as Spanish, science, and English. I find it very rewarding to help students learn and overcome struggles they have in school. Their smiles alone make the work worthwhile to me. My past experience tutoring students includes working with children between the ages of 6 and 16. While tutoring, I try my best to keep the student engaged by including physical and virtual math games, physical learning tools, and other learning instruments designed to make learning more engaging for students. I have tutored middle school students in the Chicago area in Math and science and high school students in advanced Math, chemistry, writing, and helped them prepare for standardized tests for college admittance. I have also tutored adults preparing for academic proficiency tests for their jobs and with GRE prep for those interested in going to graduate school. Additionally I have taught English grammar, reading, and conversational skills to ESL students in Chicago, Ecuador, and Colombia. While I did do some volunteer tutoring for Algebra I and II in high school, my more formal work experiences include teaching Math and English at Kumon to mostly primary and middle school kids and working as a Undergraduate TA at ASU to assist college freshmen with EEE 120 (Digital Circuit Design). While I can teach a broad range of subjects, my favorite ones to teach are programming and mathematics. What draws me towards instructing others is that having gone through education myself, I developed an ability to efficiently analyze and break down problems, and this is something that I'd like to pass down!
