I believe that education is first and foremost about establishing relationships. I genuinely and deeply care about the students with whom I work, which creates a reciprocal relationship that I think is the foundation for establishing an education for students. The students I work with know I want the best for them, that everything I do for them is a gift for them because I care about them and want them to succeed.I got my education at the University of California, San Diego, where I majored in history and psychology. I stayed at UCSD for graduate school to earn a multiple subject teaching credential and a Master in Education. I have a supplementary authorization to teach social studies in all grades. My favorite subject is history because I find the truth to be so much more fascinating than fiction. But, I tutor in all subjects in elementary and middle school. I tutor in history and writing in high school. In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, ultimate frisbee, and racquetball. I especially enjoy traveling and have been to sixty countries.

I am a recent graduate of Northern Arizona University with my Bachelor of Science in Special and Elementary Education. I am also certified by the state of Arizona to teach elementary grades kindergarten through eighth, special education kindergarten through twelfth, and multicultural education. Currently I am teaching third grade at a public elementary school in Phoenix. During my undergraduate degree work I was fortunate enough to be able to work with third, fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. I have a lot of experience with a wide range of students and looking forward to the opportunity to work with many more! I am able to teach a variety of subjects, but the most rewarding subjects for me to teach are Math and Reading. Working with children on those subjects is the most rewarding because I love seeing the light in a child's eyes when they learn something new. It is remarkable! My goal is to be able to help as many children as I can and have those amazing moments with my students!

I am a recent graduate from Tufts University with a major in International Relations and a minor in Economics. I have been helping students since I was in middle school working with students of all ages from kindergarten to college. Prior to spending four years at Tufts, I attended a boarding school in Massachusetts where I was committed to tutoring middle school students at a local Boys and Girls' Club for all four years. I always enjoyed seeing the energy of younger students who were eager to learn and their visible improvements. I also worked as a teaching assistant for an SAT prep center where I tutored SAT verbal and writing along with SAT II literature and math. I moved to Las Vegas a few months ago after finishing up college, and I would love to get back to working with students on a regular basis because I understand the importance of education and enjoy helping and seeing results. My favorite subject to teach is SAT because with the right help it is a standardized test that can see huge improvements in scores. Writing section is especially my forte because I think that grammar is the basic building block of the English language that deserves a little more attention in school. I feel a great sense of fulfillment when students start to understand the different structures of English sentences and appreciate such knowledge. In my spare time, I like to stay active and go to yoga classes, including antigravity yoga, and drive to national parks for fresh air. I am also a big foodie who enjoys regular trips to different restaurants with friends and an avid movie fan. I look forward to meeting with students here in Las Vegas!

ACT Prep Tutor • +29 Subjects

I recently graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Mathematics. From an early age I always loved math and, unlike many of my classmates, took a great pleasure in being introduced to new topics.I like to describe math as a sort of puzzle. Each piece builds off of something else, creating a more complete picture. It's therefore always important to have a solid grasp of the basics - to understand the previous steps - before learning each new topic. My approach to tutoring thus focuses less on memorizing formulas and more on understanding why these work and how you can arrive at them yourself.I have always enjoyed being able to help other people and my somewhat unique outlook on mathematics, coupled with my experienced mathematics background, have enabled me to assist many different people in the past. I have experience in teaching people of different ages and different needs, and I understand how to shift my approach to best reach the student. I served as an instructor at a Judo dojo that I grew up in beginning when I was 14, working with elementary school children. I additionally assisted in a 10th grade Algebra class in my sophomore year of high school, then again in a Calculus class offered at UC Berkeley following my senior year of high school. Furthermore, due to my mathematical background, I've often found myself questioned by friends, family, students, and even parents of students about different topics varying from elementary school material to Multivariable Calculus and beyond.I love mathematics and I hope to spark a similar joy in those that I teach.
