Accounting Tutor • +11 Subjects

I am an Accounting Master's Degree student at the University of Arizona. I have been teaching Accounting for the past five years after graduating from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Finance. I can help with business classes as well as test prep.I am planning on obtaining a Ph.D. in Accounting so that I will be able to perform research at a major university. I enjoy the way that understanding Accounting is similar to understanding how the pieces of a puzzle are put together. As a teacher, I am able to make Accounting more tangible.I also enjoy test prep. I have placed above the 90th percentile on the ACT and GMAT tests, and I look forward to teaching students not only the materials that are on these tests but also test taking strategies. In my free time, I enjoy riding mountain bikes around Tucson and playing guitar.

A Beginner's Guide: Excel Tutor • +43 Subjects

I am passionate about tutoring because I believe everyone should get the chance to understand and learn. In college, I was a teaching assistant and this is where I found my love of teaching. My goal in tutoring is to help the student reach their goals as efficiently, seamlessly, and enjoyably as possible. Sometimes, the goal is to pass and other times the goal is to create a deep foundation for your career. Both should be celebrated because each one gets you one step closer to your dream.I learn by doing so I think my default is to walk a student through a process while I use a silly metaphor to better explain the process. Not everyone learns the same so I appreciate when a student gives feedback and we can work together to achieve their goals.I can relate to being overwhelmed when taking quizzes and tests so I also try to give test taking advice. For example, in Financial Accounting, I suggest information like the accounting equation and an example journal entry be written off to the side. Accounting questions typically are very wordy so this can help you remember to return to the basics.I think my favorite subject to teach is Microsoft Excel. I have always had a love for computers but I think using this software really shows the depth of my fascination.I have a business degree in Finance and Accounting as well as a Masters of Accountancy from the University of Oklahoma. I became a CPA at the end of 2018.

AP Comparative Government and Politics Tutor • +35 Subjects

I am a graduate of UCLA having earned by Bachelor's in both Economics and History. My experience with teaching has come in the form of both training co-workers one-on-one at Deutsche Bank as well as giving group lessons to UCLA students on the subjects of public speaking, debate, and negotiation. I have also worked with UCLA students on essay writing.I tutor a wide range of topics. In terms of High School academics, I can tutor for the SAT and SAT subject tests, multiple AP classes including History, English, and Poly Sci, and general High School courses including History, English, Economics, Social Studies, and Geography. Outside of the High School Classroom, I can tutor for college essay writing, public speaking, reading, and general writing skills. The subjects that I am most passionate about tutoring are history, economics, and geography. My teaching style consists of compartmentalizing any topic into small, manageable pieces of information, then putting together the big picture once the parts are understood. I will also only start a lesson at the point where a student can confidently understand the information and then work forward from there. In my spare time I enjoy running, reading military history, and watching as many different films as possible.

I first began tutoring and teaching for my high school's math national honor society and speech and debate team. I found the results of helping younger children really rewarding, especially because they not only understood how to solve problems but began to enjoy the learning process. Through these experiences, I have learned some of the best ways to adapt to different kinds of students and hone in on different strategies for different levels.I've been very involved with the debate team, competing in Lincoln Douglas debate for four years. In my free time, I love to draw, listen to music, and play the clarinet.

The journey of discovering, rediscovering, inventing and reinventing myself has begun.I am a rising freshmen at Rutgers University-Camden, majoring in Finance but intensely passionate about all branches of Mathematics. After graduating from high school from India, I started attending Rutgers that has been a major boost to my career path. I am proud to say that I have perfect grades, which means I have a 4.0 GPA until now. I have a top 5% rank in all my classes, and a valedictorian in most of my courses. Deemed responsible, hardworking and ambitious by all my professors, I have received great recommendations from them.I have been tutoring Mathematics to my peers and juniors ever since high school. I am confident that I am a good tutor, since my friends always come to me for help in Algebra, PreCalc and Calculus since they regard my teaching style as easy and interesting. However, I would like to add that I am a pusher- I push myself to the best I can be, and I would push and motivate my students to be their best too.Outside academics, I have a lot of hobbies. I watch TED talks, write computer programs, listen to music and read. I also love roller-skating and ice-skating. I graduated in May of 2015 from Tufts University with a BS in Economics and Biopsychology. At Tufts, I was an Economics tutor for the Academic Resource Center for three years. Additionally, I have worked as a volunteer English language teacher in Madrid, Spain, during my semester abroad in the Spring of 2014. I love traveling as well and am extremely excited to be returning to Madrid in September on a Fulbright grant to be an English Teaching Assistant at the high school level! My approach to tutoring has always been about understanding each student's individual style as a learner to create lessons best-tailored to his or her specific needs. I try to foster an environment where open communication is emphasized and the student feels comfortable and motivated. Outside of the classroom—even though I was born and raised in Manhattan—I love spending time in the outdoors. I am an avid rock climber, and enjoy hiking, camping, and connecting with nature.
