I am a PhD student in Classics (Ancient Greek and Roman studies) at the University of Washington. I have been tutoring Latin since 2015 and was a 5th and 6th grade Latin teacher for Basis.Ed from 2016-2018. I love working one-on-one with students of all ages to improve Latin skills!

I am student at Mississippi State University. I see my youth as an advantage as it allows me to connect more easily to students. My strongest subjects are history, Latin, and English, but I am proficient in many others.

I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a degree in Classics and graduated with honors and magna cum laude. I then obtained my Master of Arts from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona in Classics with a focus on archaeology. I am currently mulling applying to law programs but I am going to take a few years off before I apply. During my college career, I have traveled to France, Britain, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Turkey, and would like to travel to many more countries! I tutored special needs students in Math, History and English during my time in high school. In my Master's program, I was a teaching assistant for four classes and mentored and helped many students of all different backgrounds for my entire two years there. In one specific case, I tutored a student in Ancient Greek for two to three a week for a semester.I can tutor in World History, European History, AP European and World History, Latin, all subjects of Writing including Grammar and Mechanics, and Public Speaking. Although I enjoy tutoring many subjects, European History is my favorite because I find it rewarding to show students how important past events still are to contemporary times. My methodology for tutoring is to help students identify answers that they can eliminate immediately and work together to find the right answer logically. I am patient teacher but I think the students benefits the most when they teach me the material because I can assess how comfortable the students are with the material and take the appropriate actions to help the students become more comfortable with the material.As for activities I find interesting, I play ice hockey regularly and follow all of the local sports teams. I played track and field and cross country in high school. While I like playing video games from time to time, I enjoy reading books of any topic (politics, sports, fiction, non-fiction, etc.) and watch many popular television shows. In general, I am a relaxed person who enjoys working with anyone willing to apply themselves.

Teaching and tutoring are my passions. I take them seriously, keep up with recent research, and am constantly looking for ways to help students interpret material they may be struggling with. I am currently seeking Teacher Certification so I can pursue my career goal of making Latin and Grammar accessible and relevant to modern students. That being the case, my primary focus is Latin tutoring, though my extensive experience with academic writing/reading and the research I have conducted in French enable me to offer help in those areas as well. My concentration in linguistics has often helped me show students ways to connect with language and writing that fit their own experiences. For students struggling with Latin, I offer help with paradigm memorization & I offer guidance and practice reading Latin. I am happy to supplement studies with outside readings to help with fluency and accuracy. If you or your student is struggling with Writing or Grammar, I will help you find an effective way to work with and understand Formal English. If you need help with elementary French, I am happy to discuss grammar and practice pronunciation with you.

This spring, I graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet and a minor in Strategic Communication. During my time at the University of Utah, I received the Excellence in Research & Writing Award from my department; I love to help students find the joy in writing and literature studies! I also have a deep appreciation for the Latin language, and I enjoy assisting students in their study of Latin and helping them to see the numerous benefits of learning the classical language. Currently, I am a ballet dancer with Ballet 5:8 in the Chicago suburbs.I aim to personalize my approach to teaching for each student I tutor. I am passionate about making every session fun and productive. Given the right support, I believe that every student can become enthusiastic about the material they are learning.

I currently work at a school as management so I am missing the teaching portion of my life. I have developed various strategies and tips not just for students but myself throughout college. What may work for one person may not work for another even from subject to subject.I am patient and work to help aid students with academic challenges and goals.In my free time I love spending time with my family and pets. I love to go outside but also enjoy cuddling up to watch a movie and nap.

I am a rising sophomore in Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. I am majoring in security studies thinking about working in counterterrorism. As far as tutoring style, I think it is really important not to give the student the answers but to ask them questions and help them come up with strategies to get to the answer for themselves; the goal is to make myself unnecessary in a way. My strengths (in school and tutoring) are in foreign languages including Latin and humanitiesexpect a very enthusiastic tutor especially if we are talking about Shakespeare! I also think it is important to try and frame things in a context students are used to, so if that means watching She's the Man in order to understand Twelfth Night, then that's what we will do (although we do have to read the actual play as well).
