"We went over the topics that were to be covered on his exam today. Specifically, we went over mass percent and molarity, and how they get applied to topics such as stoichiometry, dissolutions, and neutralizations. Once he started warming up, he could do all of the problems we encountered on his homework which would be problems he would encounter on his exam. I believe his biggest struggle was believing in his own abilities in being able to do well on his exam. Over the time I worked with him on those topics, I had absolute confidence in his ability to do well on those problems. While we went over his homework questions, I also had him do questions that we had not done previously in the textbook as the problems were similar in style and also reinforced the different concepts that would be on the exam. He was able to answer them perfectly."
"Today we practiced ideal gas laws in preparation for an upcoming test. We reviewed Charles's, Boyle's, Avogadro's, combined gas laws, as well as others. We also reviewed Dalton's law of partial pressures. We completed a test review and did practice questions."
"We reviewed many concepts involving acid/base equilibria. We went over Ka, Kb, strong acids and bases, Henderson-Hasselbach equation, and writing balanced equations. He struggled grasping the concept of Ka and Kb and the beginning, but by the end of the session, he was able to distinguish between the two and showed an understanding of both. He was able to pick up on the concepts quickly when it was explained in a different way. As long as he memorizes the strong acids, I think he will be able to solve most of the problems confidently. He has an exam coming up on Thursday."
