Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I prepared for her upcoming exam in class. We went over algorithms and the components of an algorithm, different data types that a computer can use, block diagrams, and pseudocode. We practiced writing pseudocode from a block diagram and also creating pseudocode from a given problem statement. She did very well today, and I feel like she is prepared for her test."
"Tonight we focused on letter recognition, phonics, sight words, and book reading skills. The student was enthusiastic about new materials I brought, and other new materials provided by his mother. He was eager to read, and by the end of the session was able to stay focused on a book long enough to complete it. He was proud of this accomplishment, and so was I."
"We covered linear algebra. I went through sets theory-types, relation and operation of set. I also covered set properties- commutative, distributive, associative, and additive identities. I explained her how to draw a Venn diagram. During the end of session, the topic centered around applications of De Morgan's theorem. She seemed to have understood the session."
"The student and I continued to work through problems that focused on the Cobb-Douglas function and the Solow growth model. We were able to successfully work through one of the remaining problems involving base calculations and adjustments that would occur as variables changed. We were also able to calculate time path values for capital per worker."
"Today the student and I watched the first five minutes of a student news video. We watched it minute by minute, twice through each minute. After the first viewing, I asked her for a summary of what she heard and saw, and then I gave her a few questions to listen for specifically in the second viewing. She did very well at getting the main idea and listening for specific details. Her listening will improve with continued practice. She did a great job today."
"We concluded our final session today with an all-around review of math, science, English, the essay, and reading. The student has shown great improvement, and I am looking forward to hearing news of an awesome test score!"
