"Today we covered the subjunctive again. We went over the situations when one would use it. We discussed and practiced the formation of sentences in which the subjunctive can be used. We also covered the conjugation of irregular verbs in the subjunctive including etre, aller, faire and avoir. Lastly, we reviewed some of his homework covering the usage of the imperative form. The student , as always, was very positive, focused and studious. He is catching on to the usage of the subjunctive very well. It's a difficult topic and he'll just need to practice it, especially speaking. I'll be following up this lesson with some subjunctive worksheets for him to practice."
"We worked on French direct and indirect pronouns. Although it is challenging to understand and use even for fluent speakers, the student did well during the activities. Finally, we had a conversation using direct and indirect pronouns."
"We reviewed vocabulary that will be on the student's upcoming quiz, and then we practiced a combination of vocab and the grammar that we've been working on for the past several weeks. He seems pretty solid in his knowledge of the vocabulary, and his mother has indicated that his listening comprehension is definitely getting better due to our practice."
"The student and I went over formulating sentences by using vocabulary, verbs, pronouns, and reflexive verbs. I additionally brought some additional practice in reading comprehension for her and I to go over. I encouraged her to continue to practice her pronunciation as well as her sentence formation."
"Today we worked through a short story in French, meticulously going over the vocabulary and overall meaning of the language as it pertained to the content of the story. We translated literally and figuratively giving nice exposure to some colloquialisms and vernacular. It was an intricate story with a few layers, and it took the majority of our time. The student has indicated he'd like to do more conversational practice with me going forward, so I look forward to helping him in that arena as well."
"After I saw the student's test topics, I decided we would cover the most ground doing a composition. I think I was right. He needed help the most with verbs and articles. I'll be sending some resources for him to study that. But I think today was a good precursor for tomorrow's session. We'll have a better focus on what needs to be done for his test Tuesday."
