Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued working on the unit 2 review problems of his econ applied statistics course. There are 9 problems altogether, and we completed the first 3 in our prior session. Our primary focus today was on problem 4, which involves the ANOVA one-way test and the calculation of a Bonferroni family of confidence intervals. We covered most of problem 5, which involves the use of simple, weighted, and exponential moving averages to develop forecasts, and problem 6, on using trend lines and seasonality factors."
"Concepts covered: Accounting and economic profit, comparative and absolute advantage, cost curves, opportunity costs, production possibility frontier, revenues, direct costs, fixed costs, and the cost of capital. The student continues to have a good attitude and is doing well with the concepts. He says that his grades are improving and that he is getting a benefit from tutoring sessions. He is to review his schedule and contact me for his next session."
"Reviewed past homework, considered marginal willingness to pay, isocost curves, isoquant curves, DWL, income, and substitution effect for normal goods."
"We introduced ourselves to each other, and the student granted me access to his courses materials. We started working on problems sets together as he had a problem set in preparation for his midterm."
"We reviewed concepts in the student's linear algebra, including solving systems of equations using the Gauss-Jordan Method. We applied this to several problems. The student understood the method after a few problems and was able to proceed independently."
"For our tutoring session, we reviewed over Chapter 7 of the packet. This packet talked about the finite and infinite population and differentiated the two. This included proportions. I showed the student the step-by-step procedures to be able to solve, but most importantly, understand the bigger picture. I think today's session helped her tremendously in addition to the previous lessons. For our next tutoring session, we will be discussing the final portion for her exam. It is Chapter 8 which covers over confidence intervals. Overall, this was a good session and as always, she was very engaged during our tutoring session."
