Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on some U-substitution review and went over his homework. His homework dealt with a number of different ways in which calculus can be used to estimate irrational numbers like pi or 'e'."
"We covered chain rule, power rule, and product rule. The student has difficulty with functions that require a relatively large combination of differentiation rules. I've taught him different approaches that can simplify the differentiation process, now he just needs a more practice. I have given him a sheet of problems that he can use to practice these problems."
"During this session we continued working on problems dealing with first and second derivative interpretations (max, min, POI, Concave Up, Concave Up, increasing, decreasing, etc.) overall this session went well."
"Today we worked through the student's homework of definite and indefinite integrals. By the end of the session she was doing the problems on her own, and she also was able to correctly decide on answers to the conceptual multiple choice problems. She said that she was also able to do all the problems on the board in class easily since our last session."
"The student and I practiced some AP test problems today. The student needed a little bit of refreshing on the older methods addressed, such as the first- and second-derivative tests, extrema, and concavity."
"We covered parametric equations and derivatives. They have a prep book that is filled with practice problems she wants to work on herself. She struggled with parametrics and how to relate it to a new variable, but more practice will clarify this."
