Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we completed our review of the student's homework in preparation for his exam. We reviewed limits both algebraically and graphically. Then, we did a review on the different quotient and several derivative rules and average rate of change."
"Tonight, we reviewed all topics for the student's test tomorrow. As always, he had a great attitude towards the reviewed material. "
"Very good session today -- we worked on limits and derivatives. One strategy we talked through had to do with finding limits at infinity. When a square root was involved in the fraction, it was necessary to consider the square root when multiplying the numerator and denominator by something. For instance, 1/x can be considered the square root of 1/(x^2). We worked on derivatives based on a position function, using the derivative to find a velocity function."
"We actually went through a lot of example problems instead of just the concepts. Unless the problem required the use of Chain Rule, the student was rather good at taking the derivatives required. We did go back and talk about Chain Rule for a little while, as this topic was covered in a class after our last session."
"We continued and almost finished the unit exam on derivatives/implicit differentiation/related rates. We'll need to work more on related rates so that she can figure out a plan to solve the problems herself. She has improved so much on the basics that she can see her mistakes in her calculations."
"We continued the studying for the student's upcoming calculus exam. We first did a review of what we had already covered, and then dove directly into covering the rest of the topics anticipated on the exam. The student is motivated to do well and follows examples and rules well. She pays really good attention and is able to apply concepts right away."
