Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued our discussion of multivariate regression. After reviewing the general concept, we returned to the student's final paper project, which investigates the relationship between poverty and democracy. We explored additional models that take into account the wealth of a nation, health care, education, diversity, inequality, corruption, and political instability. In particular, this session helped the student in deciding on the final models to include in his paper. We then discussed ways he could outline his paper. Overall, the student understands how to approach the project and is getting a good feel how to do multivariate regression in practice."
"We covered ANOVA and ANCOVA. The student was positive, and has been doing well in her course. I sent her an example. She was more easily grasping the concept of an interaction."
"We went over z-scores and the standard normal distribution for the student's test. She understood the material and was able to do practice problems similar to ones that will be on Monday's test with very little to no help."
"Last night we had our first statistics session where we covered a lot of basic descriptive statistical information such as: box plots, histograms, measures of central tendency, normally distributed versus skewed data, etc."
"The student and I formulated an idea, sampling method, and analysis for her project this semester. She was very receptive of my ideas, and her final product is going to be great. Again, she consistently impresses me with her natural intelligence."
"The client is taking introductory stats class in college. She provided a study guide for her final exam. We covered paired t-tests (and conceptually the other two types of t-tests), chi-square, and one-way and two-way ANOVA. We practiced writing hypotheses, looking up critical values, interpreting and presenting results, and answering test questions about the equations."
