Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed basic information about Chinese language. Reviewed Pinyin initials and finals. Practiced spelling syllabus. Learned pronouns for people. Learned numbers from 0 to 10. Learned simple greeting words."
"Reviewed the word structures and used the boxes to 1) get a more concrete sense of word structure by pairing up the characters and 2) reinforce the link between characters and meanings by comparing the boxes to the dictionary."
"Student one and student two continued to learn about the four tones and numbers 1 to 10. We practiced writing the four tones in the Chinese Pinyin alphabet. Then, we circled the correct tones for the pronunciations of numbers 1 to 10. We reviewed the written characters for the numbers, and drew the number of animals indicated by the characters. We also continued to practice writing the numbers 1 to 10. Student two has a good memory of what we have learned so far, and she was able to write the four tones and numbers 1-10 correctly."
"Student one finished her lesson 1 workbook and last book exercise. She also completed a short writing prompt. Student two started a lesson. From now on, I will spend more time with student one, because the book she's reading is a little bit of a challenge for her. I believe she's capable and going to make a huge progress after this book!"
"The more we have class together, the more I enjoy the interest and passion the students show in learning Chinese. It feels special to share with them another way to learn new things and see another culture. We had fun learning family member terms together."
"The student and I covered a type of verb construction that he knew slightly from previous Chinese instruction. We expanded on his prior understanding -- he handled the new information very well and gradually came to recall the pieces that he had seen before. Great class."
