This session, we went back over the student's digital comm notes on Fourier Series. He is getting homework help, so we just slowly went over the concepts from his notes. Since the professor tends to skip over intermediate steps during lecture, I helped fill in the gaps.

The student and I had a great session! We went over her last science test, since she'll need to understand the material for her midterm at the end of the semester. Her current science grade is an 85, which is good. I know she's aiming for something slightly higher, though, so we'll keep working to raise that grade She didn't have any science assignments due this week, so we spent the second half of our session studying for her geometry test the following day (proofs, theorems, properties, etc.).

We covered the living environment portion of the exam. I have assigned chapters 4-6 in both living environment book and geometry just to look over and see if there are any topics that he feels he would like to review. Overall he is doing very well on the practice tests and I think his retention of the material remains strong.

In addition, I reviewed percent composition and STP conversions to prepare for upcoming test.

We continued to cover acid base chemistry. This time we looked at a lab she did in class of a strong acid and strong base titration. We discussed why it is a neutralization reaction and what the equivalence point is (equal moles of strong acid and strong base). We reviewed the meaning of Bronsted/Lowry acids and bases, conjugate acids/bases, and some of the equations from earlier this week (pH and H30+ concentration). We also discussed conceptualizing the reverse reaction and seeing how the charge on a base changed when a proton leaves. She easily recalled a formula during a problem that she had trouble recognizing/recalling last session, so this was an improvement.
