We reviewed her practice test from Chapter 1; she scored 15/18 correct. I asked her to review a few of the problems and will continue to practice these types of problems with her. She has difficulty with multi-step problems sometimes. We then moved on to Chapter 2 and discussed inductive reasoning vs. deductive reasoning, conjecture, and p->q. We will continue next week with types of logic in preparation for writing proofs.

We reviewed how to calculate the distance between two points and the perimeter and area of a triangle. I also taught her an alternate way to calculate the area of a triangle (Heron's formula). Then, we started looking ahead at the material her class will cover next week. We discussed the definitions of a integer, a conjecture, and a prime number ,and talked about how to solve logic problems.

We reviewed lines, planes, and angles. We reviewed the application of the concepts learned in solving questions. The student is a very good scholar and is excited about what he is learning. He knew most of the concepts but had problems applying them to solve questions. He had a study guide containing questions, so we solved as many as time would permit. I encouraged him to go through the rest of the question even though he acknowledged that they hadn't covered some of the topics on the study guide. He is very friendly and I think overall he is going to be an excellent student. I will definitely like to work with him again.

We reviewed material from our last session including the Segment Addition Postulate, factoring polynomials, and mid-point on a line segment. The student breezed through this. A recommendation I have to help her with her homework is to draw the line segments. On her homework it was incorrect, but once we had it drawn she instantly got it. We then discussed the distance formula and the midpoint formula with some practice problems. We discussed a probability problem with three points on a line and one off of the line. We set up an appointment for next week on Wednesday at 6pm. We are going to review rules covering exponents and solve more line segment problems.
