Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During our session today, we reviewed material for the student's upcoming math exam. Additionally, we practiced spelling for his upcoming spelling exam. The math questions included word problems about even and odd numbers, and counting by 5's and 10's. Overall, he was able to answer each math question efficiently and demonstrated good knowledge of the concept. The student struggled with some of the spelling words, but after additional practice, he became efficient. He is gradually improving his focus and is beginning to demonstrate more interest in each session."
"During this session, we worked on how to order fractions from least to greatest using pictures and trying to find the common denominator. The student needed help with finding the common denominator, so we went over that in detail. We also spent some time working on spelling."
"During today's session, he and I focused on reading comprehension and multiplication facts. We went over multiplication facts 2, 3, 4, and 5. He mastered 2's and 3's and is currently working on mastery for levels 4 and 5. Overall, he is a motivated learner and is striving to improve his reading fluency."
"During today's session, the student and I worked on factoring and prime factors for two digits numbers. She did well with this activity with the assistance of a multiplication chart. We completed 12 problems for factoring. After this, we moved onto word problems on a website. Her behavior has improved immensely. For the next session, we will work on factoring."
"First, we practiced the properties of addition and multiplication through a game online (Hangman) from the student's book. Since he is practicing decimal addition, we played "Dollar Math" where you pick a word and add the value of each letter. He lined up his numbers well for this. The last 15 minute we practiced multiplication facts, focusing on the 3's and 7's. Next week there is no tutoring, but we will resume the week after."
"First, we went over strategies for him to utilize to begin studying his spelling words. This included pronouncing and defining each word correctly. Then, we discussed him spelling each word, and then going back to correct the ones he misspelled. This was to be done at home each night to get familiarized with the words. We also covered more long division this time with remainders. He knows how to do long divisions but needs repetition. I told him that practicing it makes it easier and encouraged him to keep practicing. We are working on multiplication, and I realized that he knows some multiples for certain numbers, so now we can go over those numbers he is weaker at. He is doing a great job. "
