Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed specific aims in preparation for her test. We first discussed solubility rules and certain electrolytes. We then talked about colligative properties including the calculations for boiling point elevation and freezing point depression. We also did calculations relating to molarity and molality. She did very well today!"
"For this session, we did an online homework quiz which covered molecular geometry and Lewis structures as well as some ionic bonding. The student is definitely starting to get the hang of the topics in chemistry, and when she is gaining confidence, she tends to do better. She always knows how to do the material."
"The student had just had a test so she was starting a new unit. The unit covers digestion, circulation, gas exchange, etc."
"We went through nearly all the pages on the packet the student got from her teacher as review material for her midterm exam. It dealt mostly with Newtonian Physics, specifically vectors, free fall objects, tension forces, unit conversion, etc. She was fully focused and exerted due diligence in her learning and solving. We still have a couple of pages of the review package to work on in a subsequent session (or on her own, if she wishes). Having a review set of questions/problems makes the session go efficiently."
"We went through some homework problems to prepare for the final that covered: Lewis dot diagrams, determining VSEPR geometry, sigma/pi bonds with drawing organic structures, and a weak acid-strong base titration. At the next session, we will continue with these problems."
"We went through the Excel sheet and entered in the appropriate frame number. Then we went and looked at the formulas in the cells and explained where they came from. The student did not have Excel on his computer, so he is going to download it so that he is able to see the formulas. He will work on that and try to plug the correct numbers into the charts."
