Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered concepts with trig and inverse trig functions. This required some review of standard trig functions and some redefinition to get the concepts down. We worked through a review assignment and I believe he understands the material better."
"For this class, we first reviewed many of the concepts from the previous session, then went over a homework that the student did not do well on. I helped her understand her mistakes and then she went on to fix them. I noticed that this week she seemed to understand everything a lot better than before."
"Both students each worked on chemistry and math material this session. They were both quite comfortable with the subjects so far this semester. Student 2 occasionally confused his signs in math when doing synthetic division, but he was able to figure out his errors."
"The student was assigned a math packet with various math skills as test prep for the upcoming state exams. He worked well with a few prompts to focus and recall different strategies. He is doing well with internalizing newly learned strategies."
"The student shared her story about Princess Ivy with me today. She did a great job reading her story and then answered questions about Princess Ivy. We have talked about making the story longer and making her story into a book. She worked a couple of single-digit addition problems for me and did a great job. She has agreed to study her math facts using flashcards. We made a plan of doing those every day for about 7 to 10 minutes a day. We have devised a plan to break the next sessions into 3 sections: 20 minutes for math; 20 minutes for reading; and 20 minutes for language arts. I will go over a checklist of second grade skills with her to see if she is lacking skills in any certain area. I enjoyed visiting with her and I look forward to our future sessions together!"
"The student and I worked on a reading passage, which she did very well on. She needed help sounding out certain words, but is showing great improvement. We also worked on some addition. She discovered rewriting the problem in columns was better than seeing it in a row. I left her with math homework."
