How can Writing tutoring help you succeed?

The student who understands good writing skills in school makes a direct and positive impact on their GPA, college achievements, and future career earnings. That's why educators across the country advocate professional writing tutors, so students can excel at their coursework and land great jobs. The educational directors at Varsity Tutors can connect your child with a brilliant writing tutor in and around Akron, OH, to sharpen his or her skills for future success. The news from today's digital age hiring managers is that all employers today demand good-to-excellent writing skills for every job function. Students may have talent in chemistry, math, liberal arts, or bioresearch, but if they cannot express their thoughts, analysis, or recommendations clearly and persuasively in writing, they are not worthy candidates. Writing tutors know this, and base their study plans on the basics, and then build to writing excellence. A professional tutor in Akron will optimize your child's potential for their writing course. A huge advantage of an expert writing tutor is that your student can immediately apply what they learn to their writing requirements in other coursework. Right from the start, your child's tutor will assess his or her writing skills, strengths, and weaknesses. Then, their tutor will develop a personal study plan to make sure your child understands correct usage, grammar, and context. The study plan is flexible and will change as frequently as your child succeeds with each new concept. If he or she needs more review with common writing errors, their tutor will prepare the specific drills and exercises needed to reinforce their learning.

Direct feedback from professional writing tutors indicates that when students understand the skills of logic, organization, and structure, their writing skills soar and they are better qualified for college admissions and great jobs in any sector. All students in Ohio are tested annually on their writing and other skills. What your child learns in their writing course could help him or her excel in the End of Course (EOC) and Ohio State standardized assessment tests. A highly skilled writing tutor in Akron could help your child excel on test day. Best of all, private tutoring is convenient and flexible. Your child can meet their tutor at any time, at home, at the library, or any public venue. If your child cannot meet in person, he or she can access a face-to-face online learning platform to interact with their tutor. Your child's tutor makes the total student experience engaging, motivating, and rewarding. Session Summaries by Writing Tutors

Writing Tutoring review by Mollie in Akron, OH
Today, the student and I started by reviewing for his language arts and social studies tests coming up Friday. I quizzed him on his flashcards, and we discussed the ones he got wrong and ways that might help him to remember. Afterwards, we went over both quizzes a few times. He and I continued discussing a Social Studies paper. I helped him make sure he was not copying the information exactly as it was in his source while still keeping the facts and making good sentences. He and I completed the writing process today and will just need to do a little editing during his next session.

Writing Tutoring review by Drew in Akron, OH
Continuing from our earlier session, the student and I focused on crafting an effective outline to explain the overall nature of her essay. I also instructed her on the uses of such an outline to create a greater overall essay, using the bullet-points as core arguments within the essay, and examining quotations by starting from scratch.

Writing Tutoring review by Karen in Akron, OH
In this session we started by reviewing for the student's math test that he has on Friday. He did well with the study guide and I only had to review a few concepts with him. After that we moved onto his essay for his application. We completed two more paragraphs and will finish it next week. Next week I will also have him practice the app that I downloaded to get more practice with language arts. I also had him download it so that he can have some at home practice over Thanksgiving break. Overall a good session.

Writing Tutoring review by Kimberly in Akron, OH
The session included a brief overview of APA 6.0 and a discussion of how to format the paper the student is constructing. She is struggling the most with APA 6.0 and the structure of the paper she is writing. I believe she was pleased with the content of the session. Before the session, I sent her a sample paper written in the APA formatting style. The paper also has annotations that point out the various APA rules.

Writing Tutoring review by James in Akron, OH
We began our session by the student working on his homework. He read through Mills' "The Subjugation of Women." The content forced us to move slower than normal and spend a considerable amount of time in discussion concerning meaning. Again, he is working through the material in a strong manner and we are building his skill sets for comprehension. While difficult, this type of exercise will be of considerable benefit to him, especially on the AP exam, as it is building his annotation and comprehension abilities. We went through some reading questions as well. For the last few minutes, we went over a practice essay he wrote, and made plans for him to rewrite the essay, and we will review and rewrite it together during our session on Sunday.

Writing Tutoring review by Heather in Akron, OH
Tonight the student and I discussed how he could improve his To Kill a Mockingbird essay. I showed him how to use a technique called backwards outlining to revise his essays. This technique helps him identify which parts of his essay have the weakest support. He is going to revise his essay and turn it in to his teacher as soon as possible. The next book he is reading is 1984. He told me his teacher is having him create discussion questions as he reads. I asked the student to show me the discussion questions he has written the next time we meet. Overall, he worked well during this session and even made suggestions of his own about how he could improve his To Kill a Mockingbird essay. This shows growth as a writer.
