Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on homework problems involving double angles of trigonometric functions. He has a working knowledge of the applicable trigonometric identities, but will need some additional self-practice to use this knowledge well when determining solutions of complex trig expressions that involve double angles."
"The student had a test review over law of sines, cosines, vectors, and bearings. He already had a great mastery of the concepts, but needed a little review and extra practice. He saw more patterns on when either formula was appropriate. His test review didn't have vectors on it, but I reviewed the material with him anyway. He found the magnitude, direction, unit vector, resultant vector, and dot product. He felt better about his test after meeting."
"The student had not seen log functions before, so we discussed that a bit. We discussed that the sum or difference of log functions were related to the product or division of the log variables. She gained a better understanding as we went through the worksheet problems."
"The student had some questions from previous homework. We went over her notes on series and sequences. I helped her with her homework on arithmetic series and had her do some extra practice with summation notation so that she feels more confident with how to use it."
"The student has a final exam coming up soon, so we began reviewing for it, using the review sheets she was given in class. We covered trigonometric identities and how to use them to find angles and solve equations. We also covered amplitudes and periods. She struggled at first with how to read the amplitude and period from a graph, and I showed her how. She also wasn't sure how to use trig identities to find angles, and I explained how to do that."
"The student has a final tomorrow, so tonight, we went over his review packet for any parts that he didn't understand. We began with the problems he couldn't solve, which took up the majority of the session. We then went over problems that were incorrect and corrected them. He was slower during the second half of the review, so I suggested to him that he focus on those parts when he reviews for his final."
