Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"- We prepared for the student's upcoming midterm in English. - We worked on how to do a close reading and write a response (focusing on two/three stylistic elements). - We discussed test taking tips and strategies for the exam."
"The student's paper is very strong in its content, so today we discussed ways in which she could polish the language to better articulate her points and meet her teacher's rubric requirements. More specifically, we focused on: active versus passive voice, using active very constructions to eliminate "to be" verbs", and minor stylistic choices such as italicizing book titles. The student was focused and plans on bringing a revised draft for the next meeting."
"Today we tried something new: we did a week's worth of History review at-a-go. Each assignment took the student about 30 minutes to complete, so the lump session method may be a good option for him (especially if an assignment or two slips through the cracks now and then). He has a French test on Thursday, so I have recommended to take a similar approach (i.e., set aside 90 minutes for French and only French) for tomorrow evening. If he does so, he will kill two birds with one stone."
