Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered constructions, simple algebra review, congruent lines, bisecting angles, concurrency, circumcenter, midpoints and endpoints. He is doing well with geometry."
"The student missed a test last week and has to take it tomorrow. She wanted to re-do a practice test in order to study from it. We worked through the problems, some of which she had done incorrectly. I emphasized that she made minor mistakes that did not represent any misunderstanding of the material--mistakes of copying down a problem wrong, or giving the value of "X" when the problem asked also for the measure of an angle whose formula included "X". She actually knows the material. There was one problem she didn't even try to do, but with me she did it perfectly because once she drew it out she saw it was merely a test of the Pythagorean theorem. She had been too intimidated to proceed on her own. So hopefully she concentrates, draws the graphs or angles correctly from the word problems, and gives the answers asked for in the problem and she will do well. We also reviewed a few theoretical physics questions about the discovery of the atom and how it was conceived of early in its development (for Chemistry)."
"Today, the student solved practice problems to work on finding common denominators and correctly using multiple math rules to solve equations."
"The student had geometry and Spanish homework tonight. It seemed that she was a little bit more familiar with the topics than she was previously, which is a good sign. She also had language arts and history homework. Her language arts was on matching singular and plural pronouns with singular and plural subjects. She did it by herself, and did a good job."
"We got through the student's entire unit 10 review packet that is for her exam on Monday. It was about tangent, secants and chords in/ on a circle and how to compute missing angles. We managed to get through the entire packet and study a bit as we went. She understands the concepts, and should do well on her exam."
"The student was preparing for his quadrilateral test for Monday. He had review pages and a practice quiz that we completed problems out of. He is only having difficulties keeping the properties straight in his head. I sent his mother an email with websites that can help him review the various properties of quadrilaterals."
