SMITH'S MANUAL

  1. A contract asks for a word: "an instrument for seeing far things."
  2. Tap root-gems to load the anvil — TELE (far) + SCOPE (see).
  3. STRIKE to forge. Correct words raise your forge heat multiplier.
  4. Wrong combos crack — read the root meanings and try again. Heat resets.
  5. Six contracts per shift. Finish the shift to rank up and unlock rarer roots.
