Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on linear regression, scatterplots, and the TI-83 functions. We covered the practice test and class project. I provided some templates for responding to these types of questions. The student picked up on the material very quickly."
"We reviewed multivariate regression, discussing the theoretical idea of multivariate regression, point estimates, confidence intervals, and multi collinearity. We then went over the student's final paper project, which looks at the relationship between democracy and levels of poverty. He quickly understood the concepts, but needed help understanding how to set up the theoretical model and how to perform multivariate regression in R. We spent most of our time looking at the data, discussing which variables likely predict poverty and then writing the code. He now has a solid foundation and should have no problem exploring the data and finding viable statistical models. Overall, he said it was a very helpful session."
"The student has an exam coming up and had a work sheet covering the chapters that will be on the exam. We covered coefficient of determination and a variety of probability rules. The student is quite good at figuring out the mathematical/numerical aspects of questions and seems to think in mathematical terms. However, he sometimes struggles with identifying exactly what a question is asking for and picking out the most important aspects of the question. The student and I discussed possible ways he can help himself to comprehend the questions."
"Great first session! We covered a lot of the continuous distribution material, and are planning to have another meeting again soon to finish up that material and work on some new stuff!"
"We reviewed chapters 7-8, probabilities and different types of distributions. The student has a lot more to learn, but he seems to be catching on quickly."
"During this session we covered z-test and t-test usage. The student was preparing for an exam the following day. We reviewed homework problems and problem solving techniques. No issues at this time."
