Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Final lesson of SAT preparation. The student is ready for the spring SAT and has made significant improvement in all sections. Techniques and strategies have been learned completely. Practiced a final math section and covered a few specific concepts as they came up."
"This was our first session, so we covered some of his strengths and weaknesses, then went over major college application processes. The student is to complete a Diagnostic test and work on his profile for next time."
"The student spent the lesson doing Form B of the test. Overall, he is doing well. For homework, I assigned him the 8th grade problems section of the test to do an initial assessment of his knowledge of the material."
"In this session, the student and I worked on the reading section of the SAT. We read another scientific and historical reading, including two of the hardest readings in any of the SAT practice tests. Because the readings were so difficult, we spent a lot more time than normal talking about comprehension."
"In this session, we went over the SAT math and writing sections. For math, we went over a number of topics, including systems of equations, data analysis of histograms, and deductive strategies to pick an answer. Overall, he understands the techniques quite well, but doesn't know where to begin. As he can solve the problems with some prompting, this is promising. For the writing, we discussed the test's composition as well as some strategies for identifying errors in agreement or parallelism."
"In this session, we worked on critical reading. We dealt with topics such as subjective opinions, tone, and reading graphs. The student seems to be getting the concepts well and quickly. I recommended that she go to a public library close to her to see if they have any SAT reading books from any major institution."
